Chefs are a lot like hardware hackers. Both geek out, absorbing the specs of (vegetables|technology) for the purpose of creating something that nobody else has: (innovative food|new machines).
Food Hacking is the red-headed stepchild of Molecular Gastronomy. Open source recipe development vs. secret restaurant techniques, hacked hardware vs. expensive science toys. And anybody can do it!
This Hack Lab will explore hacked culinary techniques and demonstrate hacked kitchen appliances. With audience participation, we will spend some time preparing variants of weird food, recording our prep and tasting notes in the Hack Lab wiki.
