Blumenthal über Mince Pies

mince_pie.pngMince Pies, die klassische englische Weihnachtsspezialität, sind kleine Gebäckstückchen mit einer Fruchtfüllung aus z.B. Rosinen, Aprikosen, Kirschen usw. Für Bloomberg hat Heston Blumenthal sieben Sorten davon blind verkostet. Besonders enttäuschend wegen der hohen Erwartungen: Prinz Charles‘ Duchy Original Bio-Mince-Pie:

„It’s got a bit of grit in the mince there,“ he says, examining the filling. „I don’t know what that was. And there’s a slight rancidity to the pastry. It’s a bit doughy. It’s as if — this might be human error — it smells of raw pastry.“
